Doris Peltier

Community Engagement Coordinator

Doris Peltier is the Community Engagement Coordinator with the FEAST Centre for Indigenous STBBI Research (a McMaster University & Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network partnership). She received an Honorary Doctorate from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Ottawa, June 2021. She is currently winding down a five-year Intervention research study, titled Visioning Health II, a national study by and for HIV-positive Indigenous women in Canada. Other current and select involvements include: Community Advisory Council member with the Waakebiness-Bryce Institute for Indigenous Health at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health (University of Toronto); Women Living with HIV Advisory Group with World Health Organization (WHO); Board member with Prisoners with HIV and AIDS Support Action Network (PASAN). Doris has been involved for more than a decade in Indigenous Community-based Research.  She is fluent in Anishinaabemowin, which frames her worldview in her approach to Indigenous research.
