Freddy Monasterio
Freddy Monasterio is a Cuban immigrant specializing in research coordination, project management, and grants administration in the creative and health fields. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Havana, as well as a Master’s in Global Development Studies and a PhD in Cultural Studies from Queen’s University. A strong advocate for social justice, Freddy’s work focuses on supporting Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, racialized, and other underrepresented communities through community-based research and interdisciplinary projects that foster cross-cultural collaboration. In his current role as Research Coordinator at the Feast Centre for Indigenous STBBI Research, he applies his expertise to initiate, implement, and manage research initiatives that integrate Indigenous knowledge systems, promote multi-stakeholder collaborations, support diverse researchers and trainees, and translate findings into impactful policies and practices.
