Julie Bruneau

Julie Bruneau

Julie Bruneau is professor in the Department of Family and Emergency medicine and holds the Canada Research Chair in Addiction medicine at Université de Montréal.  She is an addiction medicine clinician/researcher with expertise in the epidemiology of drug use and HIV/hepatitis among people who use drugs. He reseach program examines the factors associated with and strategies to prevent new HIV and HCV infections, and to increase access to health care for people who use drugs. She has also devoted her clinical career to decrease stigma and increase access to quality health care for people who use drugs, including though a partnership with an addiction treatment service for Indigenous peoples in Quebec. As a PI of the Quebec Atlantic node of the Canadian Research Initiative on Substance Misuse and co-PI in the CanHepC network, Dr. Bruneau will facilitate links to these networks and their extensive knowledge translation partnerships. She will provide expertise on the epidemiology of PWID overall and Quebec.
